Global

It’s all about the Moons, folks! The big boys are finishing their dance with each other as far as the rest of 2011 goes, and there are no new major planetary developments astrologically in the heavens that are going to change the long term game plan. But as for the short term and the old patterns that are still clinging – well….. The new Moon at the end of September, opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto, brought a level of deep rooted worry and freneticism to both personal and global concerns, making it ever clearer as to how the old patterns of government have not kept up with the economic revolution. And now, in early October, the full Moon in Aries will be exactly opposite Saturn, suggesting that a number of final conclusions are imminent. Figureheads will pass away, old structures will cease to have any relevance, and the ‘economic crisis’ will reach its 2011 nadir. I fully expect the first two weeks of October to be more of the same with regard to the Euro, Dollar, banking crisis etc… the full Moon will sort it out for the remainder of this year, one way or another. And then – there’s the Scorpio new Moon on October 26th, sextiling Pluto, trining Neptune and opposing Jupiter – all beneficial aspects suggestive of new beginnings. The new Moon working well with the intuitive and psychological outer planets gives the unconscious urge to begin again, to remould and reshape. I forecast that the end of October is going to bring with it a much lighter energy, more hopeful and better placed to take advantage of changing times in a more inclusive way. I am so looking forward to the next new Moon, but let’s get through the full Moon first.

AriesAries Just when you thought the spotlight was fading away and it was safe to come out again… It’s the annual Aries full Moon on the 12th October, and it is taking place almost exactly opposite Saturn in your opposite sign of Libra. Because of this, the advice concerning October specifically is not to allow things to get out of proportion to reality. This is not a particularly good month for growth and expansion – more a time of pruning, weeding and streamlining your operations so that they represent a more effective and efficient side of your being. You are likely to find that this month brings with it a degree of challenge from some type of authority figure, whether paternal, employer or state, and that if you can bend without breaking you will find that your reputation moves forward in leaps and bounds. This is a month for hard nosed, grounded and down to earth application, staying below the radar screen and basically just getting stuck in. It’s a great month for tackling those meaty challenges that you’ve been putting off since forever – and if you can’t make them work out this month, ditch them. You can be quite savage in eliminating sides of your life that don’t represent the person you’re becoming – just ensure that your transformative and eliminative urges stay within your own life and don’t seep out into the outside world, because there lies confrontation. This is a month for keeping quiet, staying low and just getting things done – or not.

TaurusTaurus Polarities, polarities – these are times where you’re being increasingly pulled to the extreme ends of the spectrum in a number of different situations in your life. The superficial gains of recent months are now firmly coming under the spotlight, and many of them are beginning to look suspect under the harsh light of critical examination. Yet one or two people seem to be bearing your scrutiny and proving worthwhile, and these are the people you need to treat every so often, to thank them for being in your life. Keep your friends few but warm this month, then you know who you can trust. At the same time, there’s an increasing amount of energy coming into your opposite sign of Scorpio, so I anticipate all of your one to one relationship patterns to be areas of development and possibly intrigue. The positive side of this is that you should find your social life becoming more enhanced, your popularity and public image becoming the subject of prominence, and you may end up putting on a few pounds in weight. However, the equally strong opposite, especially in the middle of the month, is the potential to overspend, overeat, believe everything that you’re told and speculate in a way that you normally wouldn’t. Enjoy yourself by all means, there are no new major problems at the personal level, and we all need times like this to indulge ourselves somewhat. Just be wise enough to know when to say enough ...

GeminiGemini A combination of Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune are all beaming positive energy towards your sign, and whilst none of this is going to manifest in site specific ways, it will come through via the background as a low level but noticeable improvement in your day to day life and the communications and interactions that you have with others, especially in the first two weeks of the month. But as you get into October proper, an element of shadow arrives that obscures certain things, suggesting that not all will be as it seems. It won’t be nasty or negative in any way, but your natural curiosity will be piqued – there can be a substantial element of intrigue around you that attracts similar energy back. Time to don your breathing mask and dive once again into the depths of subtlety, innuendo and suggestion. This is a month where increasingly you can bring things to the surface. Don’t bother analysing what you unearth, leave that for another time, because right now you’re in miner mode and your ability to go corkscrew like into the strangest of caverns in remarkable. You can find buried treasure if you dig deep enough, but be aware that the deeper you go the bigger the potential toes that you can tread on. It may not suit everyone for you to be uncovering things that they may prefer to be left well alone, so be aware of other people’s sensitivities and know when to back off gracefully – does wonders for the respect!

CancerCancer Whilst the big league operations continue unabated and the process of combining Saturn’s structures with Uranus’ need for liberty continues, in the foreground October slowly bud steadily proves to be a time of open development and clear interactions with significant other. You should find that a more graceful energy, less hard line and blunt, comes into the equation – a visit to the theatre, or to the dance is perhaps in order. You will find that by mid month your communication methods are being received in a more responsive manner and that your words are not only being heard, but also being listened to. Those of you born in June are still – still! – dealing with Uranus and Pluto, although there’s nothing new there in the short term. It is more those of you born a few days either side of the 13th who are under the microscope, as Saturn challenges you to examine everything and everyone in your life as a test of validity, of continued worth. For some of you this is a hard month where circumstances outside of your control seem to hold you back and impose limits or boundaries. Others of you will stay low, wait it out and come back in November building on the roots and foundations of what is left. It’s a month to open your outer shell and let the world in to a certain extent, but not for making further fundamental change. October is a month for slow crawling forward, not massive jumps.

LeoLeo Welcome to the pleasure zone, welcome to activity central. Mars has come to stay, and he’s in whip cracking mode, passing through your sign with the subtlety and tact of a hippopotamus in heat. You’re going to find that your drive, libido, vivacity, enthusiasm and zest for life is enhanced, you’re likely to be more proactive and other people will be getting a nice glow and buzz off of you. But be aware that at the same time Mars brings with him a fast and furious pace of life that is essentially self centred, and your awareness of other people’s sensitivities is not going to be high during October. Whilst you may mean well, perhaps when involving other people in your actions you may do better to share your ideas before implementing them, because excluding people from your loop only ends up in alienation. After all, what is the point of doing something magnificent and grand if there is no-one to appreciate what you’re doing? Every Leo needs an audience sometimes… Mrs is getting help from a number of other planets as well, so this has to be seen as the most proactive month of the year for you. It’s a good time to initiate and instigate things, to begin and start something that will either fall by the wayside very quickly or could actually germinate and become the long term shoots of a new future. This is not a month to procrastinate – this is the time for action. The energy is there now and it won’t be in eight weeks – so use it or lose it.

VirgoVirgo This year has been full of false dawns, with lots of seemingly good offers and deals on the table, but when push comes to shove there’s been no substance. Now, during October, for the first time this year of more than a week, you’re able to step back from the fray. The big boys are looking elsewhere for action, so the energy you were using to maintain your defences and barriers against the outside world can now be diverted into your own personal re-assessment of the last year. This is a good month for retrospect, for looking back on the year so far from an analytical perspective and for firming up some of the recent developments. Simply because there’s an amount of surplus energy with no need to divert it into the outside world, you’re in a position to enhance, consolidate and strengthen your personal substance and sense of solidity. Use this time to check over and where necessary rebuild structures in your life, knowing that by doing so you’re giving yourself a once over systems check and becoming more oiled and effective as a result. And you’re well advised to spend this month building and strengthening what already exists, as opposed to taking further chances or moving forward. Next month is the start of an eight month process which will bring a much greater and stronger physical demand on your body, so use this month to get yourself in good working order so that when the time comes you’ll be able to rise to the occasion.

LibraLibra And Saturn plods remorselessly onwards ... I remember three years ago fielding complaints from Librans saying that nothing was happening, and I was telling them then that Saturn was coming. Now, he’s two thirds of his way through your sign, and whilst his influence is affecting all of you, it is particularly those born between the 11th to the 16th who have their backs against the wall and need to grab the initiative. What’s happening is not rooted in the psychological or the neurotic, there’s no drama or new crisis, it’s basically just hard wok that’s being asked of you, that and the willingness to make and take hard decisions. Even in the hard times, it’s better to act as opposed to react, because at least then you’re pulling your own strings. The first two weeks of the months are the most productive, so if there are any financial matters that need attention, make this happen before the 9th, when Venus leaves your sign. Similarly, Mercury leaving your sign on the 13th brings an end to the faster and frenetic communication pattern that’s been around since mid September, so if there are any negotiations, discussions or contractual arrangements that need making, I suggest that you do this in the first half of the month. This is a month for being hard nosed, dour, down to earth and real. Don’t go off on flights of fancy, keep your feet on the ground, stay low and work hard. Saturn’s in town, looking for slackers ...

ScorpioScorpio For months and months I’ve been tantalising and teasing, telling you that you have to wait until the latter part of the year. Now, all that fermentation, distilling and bubbling under has led to not only a degree of pressure ripe for explosion, but also a refined quality of output. In the second week of October, Venus moves into your sign, followed on the 13th by Mercury. This suggests that there’s going to be a sudden upturn in the level of day to day interactions and occurrences, that there’s greater significance from the middle of the month onwards. Of course, the Sun also enters your sign around the 23rd, but the really big news is that the Scorpio new Moon on the 26th makes so many favourable aspects, especially to Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, that this is seen as the best time for innovation, initiation and new beginnings of the entire year of 2011. You can make things happen as you get into the second half of October in ways that so far this year just haven’t been possible. You’re going to be able to source that extra 2-3% that will make all the difference. Of course, also coming with this extra vitality and drive is the responsibility to use it and not just take it for granted. The Scorpionic ability to work hard over a long period of time to get somewhere only to blow it at the very last minute is well known, and complacency in the second half of this month could be your undoing. Your time is upon you – use it or lose it.

SagittariusSagittarius For the only complete month this year, you really can be a true Saggie. There’s nothing new happening either to you or from you at more than the day by day level that will cause you any concern. There’s nothing new happening either to you or from you at more than the day by day level that will cause you any concern, and there’s a lot of potential out there to make things happen. You’re going to find yourself on the receiving end of a great deal of positive feedback, you should find that your social and popularity levels are accelerating, and that your physical get up and go is more active now than at any time so far this year. It’s a great time, easily the most favourable month of the year, so it carries with a kind of obligation to take a few chances and confidently move forward. As always, the ghosts and spectres of commitment and responsibility loom in the background, but this month it’s not about being there for anyone or anything else, your commitment should be to yourself, to do your best and to have the best of intent. Go into things with that attitude and you’re guaranteed greater success than usual. If you don’t take the opportunities around you, you’ll find that they’ll simply move on elsewhere, windows will close on you and you’ll stay the same as you have been. No loss, but no gain. But if you do take these chances that seem to be springing up around you right now, you’ll do well.

CapricornCapricorn Now that Pluto is moving forward again, you should start to sense a decrease in the levels of gravity, imposed boundaries, density and limitation that has been around since March/April. The journey through the alchemical fire of transformation is ongoing, but many of you are advancing to a new stage. Layers of the onion are being peeled away, leaving less but of greater quality. Pluto deals with regeneration and transformation, and is seen as the planet of purging and cleansing as well as rebirth and shape-shifting. It brings into Capricorn the urge to radically test old structures and borders in life, to examine their ability to continue as relevant and valid in your life, and wherever these old environments have failed to transform with the times then Pluto will eliminate, one way or another. There are no new big developments at the manifest or material level going on this month beyond what is already happening that you need worry about, and by the second half of the month things are noticeably calmer. Because of this I suggest that you can allocate some of your freed up time into looking at your own situation as opposed to those of others, and putting some quality time into improving your own life. Great month for rebuilding physical energy, sleeping more and eating better, for adopting more steady and consistent routines and for balancing your mental and emotional states. Time for a recharge ...

AquariusAquarius Over the last fourteen years Neptune has drifted through your sign, steadily bringing a degree of doubt, confusion and uncertainty as well as a keener intuition, a greater sensitivity to environment and a cleaner link with divinity. Now, Neptune is standing still in the heavens and getting ready to move forward again, preparing to leave your sign for the last time in over 150 years. This suggests that if there are still any remaining issues of confusion, doubt, fog or quicksand, you’re either going to clean them thoroughly out over the coming three months, or you’re going to stay with that level of perception for the long term future. And for October, it is likely that you’re going to act as a mirror for a number of different people whom you interact with at the one to one level. If you find that others are using you as a punch bag or a shouting post, that’s because they trust you enough to unload on you. Admittedly, it’s hard not to take this personally, but if you can manage that you’ll find that you’ve gained the respect and trust of quite a few people. The easiest thing would be just to dive in head first and take incisive and impulsive action – but that doesn’t win friends or influence people. Better to be the stoic, knowing that your time of relative solitude is coming to an end and that by the end of the year the mist, fog and treacle of recent years will be a thing of the past.

PiscesPisces Recent years have pulled you from pillar to post, having elements of trauma and obsession followed by drama and unpredictability, topped off in 2010 by things being way over the top. In 2011 there have been a number of attempts to have a more stable and calmer lifestyle, and this has been manageable for a few weeks at a time. Long term stability, however, continues to elude. October is very much a month in question as far as this yearly pattern goes. There are no new challenges or difficulties over the coming month beyond the day to day level, therefore there’s no need to watch your back or maintain your defences and boundaries so strongly. Because of this you can divert some of your energy into other areas of life, notably the ongoing re-integration of mind, feeling and body. You can continue the process of putting yourself back together again safely, without any hurry and knowing that there shouldn’t be any interference or distractions during the process. It’s probably best to keep a low profile this month, simply because there’s no need to be so outgoing and you’ll do well to not only conserve your energies but build them, because come mid November right the way through until May you’re going to find that you’re going to need them. Charge your batteries, eat well, sleep more, take your minerals and vitamins – get yourself together. This is not a time of rapid growth – it’s a time of stability, solidity and consolidation.
